The original program called for a basement dig-out to add an additional full story to this North Berkeley Victorian. In the process, the original roof-lines were unified with a lofted gable end at the rear eat-in kitchen. The 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage became a 3-bedroom, 3-bath home for a growing family, all while maintaining similar scale and original details throughout. Four skylights, a new deck, and lower-level patio help this redone home connect with the outdoors at every opportunity.
